In a major recruiting twist, top quarterback prospect DJ Uiagalelei has decommitted from the Florida State Seminoles and announced his commitment to the Ohio State Buckeyes. The shocking decision, made public on Wednesday, has significantly reshaped the recruiting landscape.
Uiagalelei, ranked among the top five quarterbacks in the 2024 recruiting class, was considered the future leader of Florida State’s offense after pledging his commitment to the Seminoles nearly a year ago. However, the allure of Ohio State’s elite quarterback development under head coach Ryan Day proved too strong to resist.
“After long conversations with my family and coaches, I’ve decided to flip my commitment to Ohio State,” Uiagalelei wrote on social media. “This was one of the hardest decisions of my life, but I believe Ohio State gives me the best chance to succeed both on and off the field.”
The Buckeyes emerged as a serious contender following Uiagalelei’s official visit last month. Sources close to the recruitment indicated that Ohio State’s track record of producing NFL-ready quarterbacks, coupled with a dynamic offensive system, played a significant role in the decision.
