Florida State’s Malique Ewin Leads Team Past Miami with Double-Double Performance

Florida State forward Malique Ewin delivered a standout performance to lead the Seminoles past the Miami Hurricanes, securing an 80-65 victory in an intense ACC showdown. Ewin’s dominance on both ends of the court proved to be the difference-maker, as the sophomore recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

From the opening tip, Ewin established his presence, consistently finding ways to score in the paint and crashing the boards with authority. His efficiency was on full display, shooting 8-for-12 from the field and adding solid defense that disrupted Miami’s offensive flow.

The Hurricanes, battling injuries to key players, struggled to match Florida State’s energy and execution. Miami guard Nijel Pack tried to spark a comeback with 17 points, but the Seminoles’ balanced attack and Ewin’s all-around effort were too much to overcome.

Florida State head coach Leonard Hamilton praised Ewin’s performance, highlighting his growth and maturity as a player. “Malique stepped up in a big way tonight,” Hamilton said. “He’s been working hard in practice, and it’s showing on the court. This was a team effort, but he was the catalyst.”

The win marked Florida State’s third consecutive victory and moved them up in the ACC standings, while Miami suffered its fourth straight loss, deepening concerns about the team’s depth and consistency. Hurricanes head coach Jim Larrañaga acknowledged the team’s struggles, noting, “We have to regroup and find ways to execute better. Credit to Florida State for playing a great game, especially Ewin.”

As the Seminoles continue to build momentum, Malique Ewin’s breakout performance cements his role as a key contributor and a player to watch in the ACC this season.
