In a stunning turn of events, the nation’s top-ranked quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class, Tyler Jennings, has committed to the Miami Hurricanes, spurning longtime favorite Clemson Tigers in a decision that has sent shockwaves through the college football world.
Jennings, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound phenom out of Atlanta, Georgia, was widely expected to join Dabo Swinney’s powerhouse program, following a long-standing relationship with the Tigers’ coaching staff. However, in a dramatic commitment ceremony streamed live on national television, Jennings reached for a Miami hat, grinning as he announced his pledge to Mario Cristobal’s Hurricanes.
“Miami felt like home,” Jennings said. “Coach Cristobal, Coach Dawson, and the entire staff made it clear they believe in me, and I believe in what they’re building. I want to be a part of bringing ‘The U’ back to the top.”
Clemson had long been the presumed favorite, with Jennings making multiple unofficial visits to Death Valley and forming a strong bond with offensive coordinator Garrett Riley. But Miami’s aggressive recruiting approach, combined with a vision of Jennings leading the next wave of elite talent in Coral Gables, ultimately won him over.
This commitment marks a monumental win for Miami, landing their highest-rated QB since Brad Kaaya in 2014. Jennings’ decision could have a ripple effect on other top recruits, potentially shifting the balance of power in the ACC.
For Clemson, this loss stings. The Tigers had positioned Jennings as their next generational QB following the footsteps of Trevor Lawrence and Deshaun Watson. Now, they must pivot to other options in the 2025 cycle.
Jennings is set to sign his National Letter of Intent in December, officially securing his place as the future face of Miami football.
