Draymond Green Shares Steph Curry’s Emotional Response to Jimmy Butler Trade

Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green recently opened up about a heartfelt conversation with Stephen Curry following the team’s blockbuster trade for Jimmy Butler. The deal, which saw the Warriors part ways with Andrew Wiggins, has been met with both excitement and reflection, especially from Curry.

Speaking on The Draymond Green Show, Green shared that Curry was deeply moved by the trade, not just because of Butler’s arrival but also due to what it signified for his own career. “It really hit him,” Green said. “We’re at a point in our careers where every move matters, and Steph knows this is one of the last big swings we can take.”

Curry, now 35, has been the face of the Warriors’ dynasty, winning four championships with the franchise. However, the team has struggled this season, leading to speculation about their long-term competitiveness. The addition of Butler, a proven All-Star and fierce competitor, signals the Warriors’ commitment to maximizing Curry’s remaining prime years.

Green noted that while Curry is excited about Butler’s impact, he also felt the weight of losing Wiggins, who played a key role in Golden State’s 2022 championship run. “Steph has a lot of love for Wiggs, and it’s tough to see a guy like that go,” Green admitted. “But he also knows that Jimmy is the kind of player who can push us over the top.”

With the Warriors currently outside the top playoff seeds, the Butler trade is a bold move aimed at reigniting their championship hopes. Green emphasized that Curry is fully locked in, understanding the urgency of making another deep playoff run. “We’re going all in,” Green said. “Steph’s ready, and we all need to be.”
