In a significant boost to their 2025 recruiting class, the Kentucky Wildcats have secured a commitment from five-star forward Nate Ament, who chose Kentucky over Louisville and Tennessee. Ament, a 6-foot-9 standout from Highland School in Warrenton, Virginia, is ranked as the No. 4 player nationally in the 2025 class.
Ament’s decision comes after a series of high-profile visits, including an official trip to Kentucky on February 11th, where he witnessed the Wildcats’ thrilling 85-81 victory over Tennessee at Rupp Arena. The visit left a lasting impression, with Ament noting the program’s appealing system and head coach Mark Pope’s high-energy approach. “Coach Pope is such a high-character person. You feel his energy,” Ament remarked.
Coach Pope’s commitment to recruiting Ament was evident, as he attended Ament’s senior night on February 14th, underscoring Kentucky’s strong interest. This personal touch, combined with Kentucky’s storied basketball tradition and player development track record, played pivotal roles in Ament’s decision.
Ament’s versatility on the court is expected to make an immediate impact. In his junior season at Highland School, he averaged 19.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 4.0 blocks, and 3.7 assists per game, showcasing his all-around prowess. His ability to score from multiple positions and defend effectively aligns well with Kentucky’s dynamic playing style.
With Ament’s commitment, Kentucky’s 2025 recruiting class is shaping up to be formidable. He joins fellow top recruits Jasper Johnson, Malachi Moreno, and Acaden Lewis, positioning the Wildcats as strong contenders in the upcoming seasons. Ament’s decision not only enhances Kentucky’s roster but also reaffirms the program’s status as a premier destination for elite basketball talent.
As the Wildcats look ahead, fans eagerly anticipate the contributions Ament will bring to the team, with expectations high for deep postseason runs and potential championship contention.
