Breaking: No. 1 WR Chase Robert Decommits from BYU, Flips to Ohio State Over Auburn, Alabama, and Georgia

In a major recruiting shake-up, five-star wide receiver Chase Robert, the No. 1 ranked WR in the 2025 class, has officially decommitted from BYU and flipped his commitment to Ohio State. The highly-touted prospect chose the Buckeyes over powerhouse programs like Auburn, Alabama, and Georgia, solidifying Ohio State’s reputation as a premier destination for elite wideouts.

Robert initially committed to BYU early in his recruiting process, citing family ties and a strong relationship with the coaching staff. However, after an impressive senior season and increased interest from top-tier programs, the dynamic playmaker reconsidered his decision.

“After a lot of thought and conversations with my family, I’ve decided to flip my commitment to The Ohio State University,” Robert announced via social media. “This was not an easy choice, but I feel like OSU gives me the best opportunity to develop as a player and compete at the highest level.”

The Buckeyes’ track record of producing NFL-caliber receivers—such as Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, and Marvin Harrison Jr.—was reportedly a major factor in Robert’s decision. Under head coach Ryan Day and wide receivers coach Brian Hartline, Ohio State has built a reputation as “Wide Receiver U,” consistently developing top-tier talent.

Robert’s commitment is a massive win for Ohio State, as they continue to reload their offense with elite talent. His speed, route-running ability, and playmaking skills make him a perfect fit for the Buckeyes’ high-powered passing attack.

For BYU, losing a player of Robert’s caliber is a tough blow, but the Cougars remain focused on their 2025 recruiting class. Meanwhile, Ohio State fans are already looking ahead to seeing their newest star take the field in Columbus.
