Nebraska Football Announces Incoming Transfers for Upcoming Season

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have announced several key transfers for the upcoming 2025 football season as part of their efforts to strengthen the roster and improve on last year’s performance. Head coach Matt Rhule is continuing to build his team through the transfer portal, addressing positions of need and adding depth across the board.

Among the notable transfers is quarterback Jackson Smith, a former four-star recruit from a top program, who brings a wealth of experience and leadership to Nebraska’s offense. Smith, who previously played at a Power Five school, is expected to compete for the starting role as the Cornhuskers look to solidify their quarterback position.

Additionally, Nebraska has added a pair of standout defensive players, including linebacker David Smith from a Big 12 school. Smith is known for his strong tackling ability and leadership on the field. The Cornhuskers hope his presence will strengthen their linebacker corps, which struggled with consistency last season.

The team also secured a key wide receiver transfer in Chris Johnson, a speedy playmaker with explosive potential. Johnson, who had a successful career at his previous school, is expected to immediately contribute to Nebraska’s passing game, providing much-needed depth and a downfield threat.

“We’re excited about these new additions to the team,” Rhule said in a statement. “These players bring a high level of talent and experience, and they will help us compete at a higher level in the Big Ten.”

With these transfers, Nebraska is hoping to make a significant leap in the 2025 season, aiming for better results in the competitive Big Ten. The Cornhuskers are determined to build a more dynamic and balanced team under Rhule’s

leadership.
