Florida State legend Warrick Dunn is officially back in Tallahassee, taking on the role of Director of Player Development for the Seminoles, ESPN reports. The announcement marks a celebratory homecoming for one of the most beloved figures in program history.
Dunn, who starred as a running back for FSU from 1993 to 1996, was a key player in the Seminoles’ 1993 national championship team and remains one of the most accomplished athletes to come through the program. His return is being met with excitement from both former teammates and current players, who now have the opportunity to learn from one of the greats.
“I’m honored to be back at Florida State in a role where I can mentor and guide these young men,” Dunn said in a statement. “This program shaped me, and now I have the chance to give back and help develop the next generation of Seminoles.”
As Director of Player Development, Dunn will focus on mentorship, leadership training, and life skills development, ensuring that FSU players are prepared for success both on and off the field. His vast experience, including a successful 12-year NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons, makes him a perfect fit for this role.
FSU head coach Mike Norvell praised the hiring, calling Dunn “the ultimate Seminole.”
“What he’s done in his career, both as a player and as a person, is inspiring. Bringing him back to our program is a huge win for Florida State football,” Norvell said.
Fans and alumni are already celebrating Dunn’s return, seeing it as a major boost for the program’s culture and player development. His impact is expected to be immediate, further strengthening FSU’s commitment to excellence.
