Indiana Hoosiers women’s basketball guard Sydney Parrish has been named the Sporting News National Player of the Year, a testament to her outstanding performance throughout the 2024-2025 season. Parrish, a graduate student from Fishers, Indiana, has been a pivotal player for the Hoosiers, consistently delivering impressive statistics and leadership on the court.

Over the course of the season, Parrish averaged 10.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. She demonstrated remarkable shooting efficiency, connecting on 45.3% of her field goals, 40% from three-point range, and 79.2% from the free-throw line. Her versatility was further highlighted by recording three double-doubles and scoring in double figures 14 times.

Parrish’s season commenced with a dominant performance against Brown University, where she tallied 20 points and 10 rebounds, leading Indiana to an 82-60 victory. Despite facing a knee injury in November during the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, which sidelined her for five games, Parrish made a strong return against Oakland University on December 22, contributing 11 points and seven rebounds in just 19 minutes of play.

Her ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor has not only elevated her team’s play but also solidified her reputation as one of the premier players in women’s college basketball. This accolade from Sporting News underscores her significant contributions and sets a high standard for future performances.
