Malik Reneau, a 6-foot-9 forward from Hialeah, Florida, has announced his transfer from Indiana University to the University of Miami for the 2025-2026 basketball season. This decision brings Reneau back to his hometown, where he will play under newly appointed head coach Jai Lucas.
During his junior year at Indiana, Reneau led the Hoosiers with an average of 13.3 points per game and contributed 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists over 26 games, starting in 19. His performance earned him All-Big Ten Honorable Mention recognition. Over his three seasons with Indiana, he maintained averages of 11.4 points and 5.0 rebounds across 94 games, with 55 starts.
Reneau’s transfer follows Indiana’s recent coaching change, with Darian DeVries taking over the program. In his announcement, Reneau expressed gratitude towards former coach Mike Woodson and the Indiana staff for the opportunity to play in Bloomington.
At Miami, Reneau is expected to bring significant experience and skill to the Hurricanes’ roster. His decision to join Miami marks the first transfer commitment under Coach Lucas, signaling a positive start to the team’s rebuilding efforts.
Prior to his collegiate career, Reneau was a standout at Montverde Academy in Florida, where he contributed to back-to-back GEICO High School Basketball National titles in 2021 and 2022. He was recognized as a four-star recruit and ranked among the top 30 prospects in the 2022 class.
Reneau’s return to Miami is anticipated to have a significant impact on the Hurricanes’ performance in the upcoming season, as he brings a combination of scoring ability, rebounding, and on-court experience to the team.
