
In a remarkable culmination to his collegiate career, West Virginia University quarterback Garrett Greene has been awarded the Sporting News National Player of the Year for the 2024-2025 season. This prestigious honor recognizes Greene’s exceptional performance and leadership, solidifying his status as one of college football’s elite athletes.
Throughout the season, Greene showcased his dual-threat capabilities, amassing impressive statistics that contributed significantly to the Mountaineers’ success. He completed 189 of 315 pass attempts, totaling 2,300 passing yards with 15 touchdowns. On the ground, Greene demonstrated his athleticism by rushing for 772 yards and 13 touchdowns, leading the nation in rushing touchdowns by a Power 5 quarterback.

Notably, he became only the second player in West Virginia history to pass for over 200 yards (210) and rush for over 150 yards (154) in a single game, leading the Mountaineers to a decisive 42-21 victory over Cincinnati.
