Indiana Hoosiers men’s basketball standout Trey Galloway is making headlines off the court with a powerful and heartfelt move to give back to the community. The rising star has reportedly invested $5.3 million of his own money to transform a large residential property into a shelter for homeless youth in Bloomington, Indiana.
According to reports from Nelly Sports, Galloway’s decision stems from a personal passion for helping at-risk youth and creating safe spaces for those in need. The shelter will provide food, housing, educational support, and access to mental health services for homeless and displaced teenagers in the region.
“This is something that’s bigger than basketball,” Galloway said in a statement. “I’ve been blessed with opportunities through this game, and I want to use my platform to create real change. These kids deserve a place where they feel safe, supported, and seen.”
The facility, which is set to open later this year, will be named “The Galloway House” and will feature dorm-style rooms, a study center, recreational areas, and staff on-site 24/7. In partnership with local nonprofits and social service organizations, the shelter will also offer life skills programs, mentorship, and career counseling.
Indiana head coach Mike Woodson praised Galloway’s initiative, calling it “a testament to his character and leadership.”
On the court, Galloway has emerged as one of the team’s emotional leaders and most consistent performers. Off the court, he’s quickly establishing himself as a role model well beyond the realm of sports.
In an age where NIL money and fame often dominate headlines, Trey Galloway is using his resources for something truly meaningful—proving that real greatness comes not just from what you do on the court, but how you impact lives beyond it.
