As anticipation builds for the 2025–26 college basketball season, CBS Sports has released its early projected rankings — and the Florida Gators have earned a spot among the nation’s top programs. According to CBS Sports analyst Gary Parrish, the Gators are projected to be ranked No. 18 in the country, signaling a strong return to national relevance under head coach Todd Golden.
The Gators are coming off a promising 2024–25 campaign that saw them make a return to the NCAA Tournament and finish as one of the SEC’s more consistent teams. With a solid core of returning players and an impressive incoming recruiting class, Florida is poised to take another step forward.
Key returners include rising star Riley Kugel, who led the team in scoring last season and is expected to be a focal point of the offense once again. Alongside him, sophomore big man Alex Condon brings size and versatility in the paint, while guard Walter Clayton Jr. adds leadership and scoring from the perimeter.
Florida’s offseason has also been boosted by additions through the transfer portal, including a highly touted guard from the ACC and a skilled wing from the Big Ten. Coach Golden’s ability to blend experienced veterans with new talent has drawn praise and raised expectations heading into the new season.
CBS Sports emphasized Florida’s balance on both ends of the court and its depth as reasons for the high ranking. If the Gators can stay healthy and build chemistry early, they could emerge as a dark horse contender in the SEC and make a deep tournament run in March.
For Gator fans, the No. 18 projection offers a mix of excitement and pressure — and all signs point to a pivotal season ahead in Gainesville.
