Kim Caldwell Reflects on Lady Vols’ 102-50 Win Against Western Carolina
The University of Tennessee Lady Vols continued their dominant season with a commanding 102-50 victory over Western Carolina on Tuesday. Head coach Kim Caldwell expressed her satisfaction with the team’s performance, highlighting their balanced offense and defensive prowess.
“It was great to see the team execute our game plan from start to finish,” Caldwell said after the game. “We had a lot of players contribute tonight, which is always a positive. Our depth is a big advantage, and it’s exciting to see the team clicking on both ends of the floor.”
The Lady Vols put on a scoring clinic, with five players reaching double digits in points. Sophomore guard Jada Williams led the charge with 18 points, followed closely by senior forward Jordan Horston, who contributed 16 points and 9 rebounds. Caldwell credited the team’s unselfish play for their high-scoring performance. “We moved the ball well and made the extra pass,” she said. “That’s what I love to see—players sharing the ball and creating opportunities for each other.”
Defensively, the Lady Vols dominated from the outset, stifling Western Carolina’s offense and forcing 20 turnovers. Tennessee’s aggressive defense led to easy fast-break opportunities, further widening the gap on the scoreboard. Caldwell emphasized the importance of maintaining defensive intensity, even when the game was well in hand. “We wanted to stay focused on our defensive assignments,” she noted. “It’s a mindset that will pay off as we face tougher opponents later in the season.”
With the win, Tennessee improves to 6-0 on the season, a perfect start that Caldwell hopes to build on as the Lady Vols prepare for their upcoming challenges. “We’re taking it one game at a time, but the foundation
