The Miami Hurricanes have landed a massive commitment in the 2026 recruiting class, securing five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr., the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect. Henry, who was previously committed to Ohio State, chose Miami over Florida State and other top programs in a surprising recruiting twist.
Henry, the son of late NFL wide receiver Chris Henry, had long been expected to join the Buckeyes but reopened his recruitment in recent months. Florida State was seen as a frontrunner, but Miami made a late push, impressing him with their offensive vision and NIL opportunities.
“I want to thank all the programs that recruited me, but Miami felt like home,” Henry said in his commitment announcement. “Coach Cristobal and the staff believe in me, and I see myself thriving in their system. It’s the best place for my future.”
Henry’s commitment is a game-changer for the Hurricanes, giving them an elite playmaker with NFL bloodlines. Standing at 6-foot-5 with elite speed and ball skills, he is expected to be a focal point of Miami’s offense from day one.
For Florida State, this loss stings. The Seminoles were heavily involved in Henry’s recruitment, and his decision marks another head-to-head battle lost to their in-state rivals. FSU will now need to shift focus to other top receivers in the class.
Meanwhile, Ohio State, once considered the lock for Henry, now must regroup after losing one of the top talents in the country.
With Henry heading to Miami, the Hurricanes have made a statement in the 2026 recruiting cycle, setting the stage for future battles in the ACC and beyond.
