
Florida State University is paying tribute to its most iconic football coach, Bobby Bowden, with a special ceremony honoring his lasting legacy. Bowden, who passed away on August 8, 2021, at the age of 91, remains a revered figure in college football history.
The Seminoles have planned a series of events to celebrate Bowden’s contributions, including a halftime ceremony at Doak Campbell Stadium during an upcoming home game. Former players, coaches, and fans will gather to remember the man who transformed Florida State into a national powerhouse, leading the team to two national championships (1993, 1999) and over 350 career wins.
FSU officials also announced plans to unveil a new Bobby Bowden Memorial Plaza outside the stadium, featuring a statue and interactive displays showcasing his career highlights. Additionally, players will wear special helmet decals with Bowden’s signature “Faith, Family, and Football” motto to honor his values and impact on the program.
“Coach Bowden wasn’t just a coach; he was a mentor, a leader, and a father figure to so many,” said an FSU spokesperson. “His legacy goes far beyond the field, and this tribute is a way for Seminole Nation to express our gratitude.”
Bowden’s influence on FSU football remains undeniable, having built the program from an afterthought into a perennial contender. His legacy lives on through the countless players he coached and the standard of excellence he instilled.
