
The Florida Gators baseball team clinched the 2025 Sunshine Showdown series against the Florida State Seminoles with a 2-1 advantage, marking a significant achievement in their season.
The series commenced with a game in Tallahassee, where the Gators handed the Seminoles their first loss of the season, securing a 7-2 victory. Florida’s pitching staff delivered an impressive performance, effectively stifling FSU’s offense.
In the second matchup, held in Jacksonville, the Seminoles responded with an 8-4 win, highlighted by a historic performance from team captain Alex Lodise. Lodise hit for the cycle and capped the game with a walk-off grand slam, showcasing his leadership and offensive prowess.
The decisive third game took place in Gainesville, where the Gators edged out the Seminoles 5-4. Freshman first baseman Brendan Lawson played a pivotal role, contributing significantly to Florida’s offense.
