In a major development for the Florida Gators football program, veteran quarterback DJ Uiagalelei has officially committed to join the team, bringing experience, leadership, and high-level talent to Gainesville. The former Clemson and Oregon State signal-caller made the announcement alongside a powerful message: “I’ve come to stay,” signaling his full commitment to the Gators and their mission.
Uiagalelei, a former five-star recruit and one of the most recognizable names in college football, is expected to provide an immediate impact for Florida. With a strong arm, excellent field vision, and experience in multiple Power Five conferences, he arrives as a seasoned leader who can help elevate the Gators’ offense.
“I’m not just here for the moment,” Uiagalelei said in a recent statement. “I’m here to stay, to grow with this team, and to help bring Florida back to where it belongs — competing at the highest level.”
During his collegiate career, Uiagalelei has thrown for over 9,000 yards and 60 touchdowns, while also contributing on the ground with his mobility and size. After productive stints at both Clemson and Oregon State, his transfer to Florida is seen as a strategic move for both sides.
Gators head coach Billy Napier welcomed Uiagalelei with open arms, calling him “a game-changer” and praising his leadership qualities. “DJ brings maturity, skill, and a winner’s mentality. He’s exactly what we need at this point in our program.”
Uiagalelei’s commitment comes at a pivotal time as Florida looks to rebound from a challenging season and reestablish its status in the SEC. With spring practice underway and fall on the horizon, the arrival of a proven quarterback like Uiagalelei could be the spark the Gators need to turn the corner
